Dedicated Access
The term "dedicated access" refers to a network connection
which is intended to be continuous and uninterrupted. The
connection's Internet protocol (IP) address and routing information
is always the same (static). In almost all cases, a phone
line, ISDN line, or other digital circuit such as a DDS or
DS1 leased-line is dedicated to the customer. "Dedicated access"
services are commonly needed when the network connection is
intended to be a gateway for multiple users to access the
Internet simultaneously, or for the customer's email or web
servers to be accessible by the global Internet.
